Now a great diet sounds as cliché as the next health tip, and understanding that most diets fail, this adjustment has to be approached as a lifestyle. Now if you are a top NCAA lacrosse recruit, this change will bring you great results, whether you need a boost to finish a game or you want to workout more efficiently.

The Meal Every Top NCAA Lacrosse Recruit Has to Eat: Eat Your Wheaties

When I was a kid I was told that Wheaties was the breakfast of champions. It turns out that champions need to eat breakfast. If you’re like me, you rarely get to eat a great breakfast. This way of eating is not only detrimental to your game as a top NCAA lacrosse recruit, but also to your health. According to the Mayo Clinic, if you eat a healthy breakfast you are more likely to:

▪       Eat more vitamins and minerals

▪       Eat less fat and cholesterol

▪       Have better concentration and productivity throughout the morning

▪       Control your weight

▪       Have lower cholesterol, which may reduce your risk of heart disease

A few extra pounds can be the difference to you dominating as a top NCAA lacrosse recruit or sucking wind. Aside from that, a healthy breakfast will push you through your morning classes with a high level of alertness. You’ll concentrate better, be more creative and even have better problem-solving skills, which come in hand on those early-morning math tests. The best benefit of all is that you’ll be mentally ready for practice, a staple of every top NCAA lacrosse recruit.


The Meal Every Top NCAA Lacrosse Recruit Has to Eat: What to Eat?

Now that you know the benefits, the next question as a top NCAA lacrosse recruit is what should you eat? The word is complex carbohydrates. This group of food includes:

▪       Whole grains. Examples include whole-grain rolls, bagels, hot or cold whole-grain cereals, low-fat bran muffins, crackers, or Melba toast.

▪       Low-fat protein. Examples include peanut butter, lean meat, poultry or fish, or hard-boiled eggs.

▪       Low-fat dairy. Examples include skim milk, low-fat yogurt and low-fat cheeses, such as cottage and natural cheeses.

▪       Fruits and vegetables. Examples include fresh or frozen fruits and vegetables, 100 percent juice beverages without added sugar, or fruit and vegetable smoothies. Choose low-sodium versions of beverages, though.


The Meal Every Top NCAA Lacrosse Recruit Has to Eat: A Simple Complexity

A great meal to eat at breakfast is cereal, but what should you look for in a cereal? First, it must be a solid source of fiber. You should be sure to choose cereals with at least 3 grams of fiber per serving, but if possible, set your sights on a cereal that’s 5 grams of fiber, per serving or more. As far as sugar goes, you should try to only eat cereals that have 5 grams of sugar or less. Avoid cereals that list sugar as a top ingredient, or list multiple types of added sugar, such as high fructose corn syrup. Lastly, if you are counting calories, 120 calories or less is an ideal area you should aim for. Some great cereals that qualify in the meals every top NCAA lacrosse recruit should eat are as follows:

  • All Bran
  • Raisin Bran
  • Shredded Wheat
