Welcome back to CDTLB. Miller Huggins, Greg Maddux, and Charlie Sheen all knew one thing; chicks dig the long ball. If you didn’t catch the first volume of CDTLB, I covered the foods diet foods that you should let die in your diet like diet chips and Chicken Cesar Salads. Last week was a more detailed expansion of the first article, with a more specific dietary plan for baseball players. This week is all about the next level, and what baseball programs are available for athletes like you, who are in the category of the 99% of college athletes, who aren’t nationally recruited. Let’s check out the other college baseball programs outside of division I.

The Best College Baseball Programs in Division II: The University of Tampa

One of the best college baseball programs in the nation can be found in the beautiful state of Florida. The Spartans of the University of Tampa are consistently a top team in Division II and often face top college baseball teams from Division I universities like Clemson and Alabama. The reason Tampa is a top, college baseball program is because of their coach Joe Urso. Urso, who was a good college baseball player in his day, was a four year starter and late round MLB draft pick. Urso, who was an All-American, is now in his 11th season as head baseball coach. He has compiled a record of 446-137-1, and led the Tampa baseball program to seven Sunshine State Conference titles and seven NCAA South Regional championships. His college baseball team has won two Division II national baseball championships during his tenure, both teams going undefeated. If you are interested in this college baseball program, fill out this questionnaire.

The Best College Baseball Programs in Division III: Marietta College

One of the best college baseball programs in the nation can be found in the Midwestern state of Ohio. Brian Brewer, who is in his eighth season at the helm, coaches the Marietta College baseball program. Marietta College has four total Division III baseball national championships and has been in the College Baseball World Series 19 times. Brewer’s career head coaching record now stands at 310-184-1, and he like Coach Urso of Tampa is an alumnus of the team he coaches for. Brewer was a three-year letterman at Marietta, starring mostly at first base and designated hitter. Outside of the head coaching position he occupies, Coach Brewer holds the Assistant Athletics Director title also. If you are interested in this college baseball program, fill out this questionnaire.

The Best College Baseball Programs in the NAIA: Concordia University (CA.)

One of the best college baseball programs in the nation can be found in my home state of California. This school is in Southern California, which I can tell you, is ideal weather for year around baseball. The Eagles captured their first baseball national championship last year and look to continue their national prominence in the future. Their future looks bright because of their coach Mike Grahovac. Grahovic is in his fourth season and won the national college baseball championship in only his third year at the helm. Grahovac guided the 2011 Eagles team to a program-record 12 game win streak on their road to the NAIA national baseball championship. The Eagles have only been in the NAIA World Series twice, but last year the Eagle could not be denied. If you are interested in this college baseball program, fill out this questionnaire.

Hopefully, this will incite you to start looking up other top college baseball schools in your region. There are more programs than you can imagine that are willing to give you a free education to be apart of their athletic tradition; take advantage and pursue baseball at the next level now. Thanks again for reading CDTLB. Until the next time, this is CDTLB and this is a Yorick Hempstead, signing off.
